What are the intersections of being Black and Queer? Where are the Black, Queer folk, and how do we navigate social identities and issues that are often painted at odds? During Black History Month, the LGBT Resource Center and the Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center is PROUD to present our collaboration, the Black x Queer Movie Series. About Moonlight: With its widespread critical acclaim, Moonlight's beautiful exploration of Black masculinity as it intersects with sexuality is one of the first major films that offers a more complex insight into the negotiations many of us must face as we become adults. Based on Tarell Alvin McCraney's unpublished semi-autobiographical play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue, this film showcases the lifetime struggles that may come with growing up gay in predominately Black communities, and there are many takeaways for those with similar identities seeking guidance.
